Guerlain’s iconic Terracotta turned fragrance
As everyone knows, the Guerlain house is as much specialized in perfumery as in feminine beauty. It offers a wide range of treatments but also makeup. In addition, among these most famous products, Terracotta has been brightening up the feminine beauty department for many years now. Also, as if to pay tribute to this product which has become cult, Guerlain has chosen to decline it in perfume. So, let’s take a closer look at how it brings sunshine to our perfumeries …
The history of Terracotta
If the word Terracotta is widely used today to describe sunscreen powders in general, you should know that it is nevertheless a product registered by Guerlain. Indeed, the brand was the first to offer this type of make-up. The origins of Terracotta therefore take us back to 1984. Inspired by a trip to the heart of a desert, the Guerlain brand decided to make a compact powder with an ocher color close to that of the red earth of the eastern regions. Since that day, Terracotta has continued to assert its notoriety. It must be said that this one is able to give good looks with a simple brushstroke. It sounded, when it was released, as being a real revolution!
To give you an idea of its notoriety, know that a Terracotta is sold approximately every 25 seconds in the world. This is how Guerlain decided to pay tribute to one of its greatest products by developing a variation of Terracotta in the form of a perfume. What is more, it was also to celebrate the 30 years of creation of this legendary powder. Like the powder of the same name, the Terracotta fragrance clearly aims to take us on a journey. This one has a warm and solar wake, similar to a holiday memory. Nevertheless, let us note that its luminous exoticism is not devoid of sensuality either. So don’t forget your passport, the Terracotta takes us beyond borders!
The exoticism of Terracotta perfume
Like all Guerlain perfumes made recently, Terracotta is signed by the brand’s exclusive nose, Thierry Wasser. This unveils its solar scent in a huge bouquet of white flowers. The latter are also associated with exotic flavors. Thus, the initial freshness of bergamot is quickly relayed by milky and gourmet accents of coconut. Then, Guerlain’s Terracotta is enriched with jasmine and tiare flowers. Likewise, ylang-ylang greatly contributes to perfecting this journey of the senses.
The orange blossom completes the solar radiation of this juice while transporting us more to the Mediterranean side, the whole is still warmed with a sweet, warm and effective vanilla. Finally, Guerlain Terracotta is enveloped in the tenderness of white musks. Everything is presented to us in a round bottle. The generous curve of it echoes the feminine softness. Its perfect, cylindrical silhouette also nods to the shape of Guerlain’s powder compact. A sun is also engraved in its center and clings to it like a gong. Finally, the whole has an ocher color similar to Guerlain’s iconic Terracotta powder.
Since its creation in 1984, Terracotta Moisturizing Bronzing Powder has become a legendary product and the accomplice of all women!
A legendary product, Terracotta is the first of Guerlain’s sunny lands. Erected as a magical beauty product, Terracotta echoes the softness of the first rays of the sun.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the famous Terracotta bronzing powder, the Guerlain house is exclusively launching Terracotta Le Parfum. Guerlain describes this new fragrance as “the allure of the sun in a bottle”.
